FDA clears a breast cancer pill for a resistance mutation

On 4 September 2026 the FDA granted accelerated approval to camizestrant (Etcamah, AstraZeneca) with a CDK4/6 inhibitor for adults with HR+/HER2− advanced breast cancer when an ESR1 mutation appears on an FDA-authorized test during AI + CDK4/6 therapy. In SERENA-6 (n=315), median PFS was 16 months vs 9.2 months (HR 0.44). OS is immature; confirmatory trials are required.

Hubble and Webb just found 27 tiny worlds past Neptune

On 8 September 2026 NASA reported the first joint Hubble–Webb study of Trans-Neptunian Objects. Teams analyzed 27 newly discovered dim TNOs; the smallest is about 5 km across—roughly five times smaller than the best ground telescopes can see. Small TNOs keep the same color relationships as larger family members.

$333 a month slowed toddlers' biological aging

In Baby's First Years, a U.S. randomized trial published in Nature Human Behaviour on 8 September 2026, mothers with low income who received $333 a month for their child's first four years had 4-year-olds with slower DunedinPACE biological-aging scores (−0.17 SD) than families getting $20 a month.

An AI lung drug made six aging clocks run younger

On 7 September 2026, Insilico Medicine and collaborators published in Nature Biotechnology a Phase IIa exploratory analysis showing that rentosertib, an AI-designed TNIK inhibitor for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, lowered predicted biological age on all six proteomic aging clocks tested in 42 patients. Peak signal was about 3–4 years younger at week 4 on 30 mg twice daily — exploratory biomarkers in sick lungs, not an approved anti-aging pill.

NASA’s rover found complex carbon in ancient Mars river rocks

In a Science Advances paper published online 24 June 2026, Murphy et al. report that Perseverance’s SHERLOC instrument detected macromolecular carbon in mudstones at Bright Angel in Neretva Vallis, Jezero crater — hundreds of organic detections across two rocks, the most robust organic find in Jezero so far and, per the authors, the only MMC detection on a natural rock surface on Mars. Organics appear in both primary silicate and secondary carbonate/sulfate settings. This is not proof of life.
